Day Two of the District Team Learning Seminar (DTLS) focused squarely on strategy — aligning district leadership with the Action Plan of Rotary International and strengthening the ability of leaders to deliver measurable, lasting impact.

Strategy in Alignment with RI

Participants examined how district and club plans must intentionally align with Rotary’s four priorities:

  • Increase Our Impact

  • Expand Our Reach

  • Enhance Participant Engagement

  • Increase Our Ability to Adapt

The emphasis was clear: Rotary must move from activities to outcomes — from effort to evidence — ensuring sustainability and accountability in every project undertaken.

Creating Projects That Last

A powerful and practical session on designing projects that create lasting impact was led by:

  • Shamilah (PDG)

  • Aisha Sykes (DGN)

This was not just theory. Leaders engaged in hands-on discussions exploring:

  • Community needs assessments

  • Sustainability planning

  • Measuring outcomes beyond the first year

  • Building continuity across leadership transitions

The message resonated strongly:

A Rotary project is successful not when it launches — but when it continues transforming lives years later.

Public Image: Telling the Real Rotary Story

The public image discussion centered on authentic storytelling — sharing stories that truly reflect service and what Rotarians do.

Participants were reminded that:

  • Rotary’s impact must be visible.

  • Stories should reflect transformation, not just events.

  • Images, testimonials, and data together build credibility.

Public image is not promotion for its own sake — it is stewardship of Rotary’s reputation.

Remarks from the District Governor

District Governor Christine Kawooya delivered her remarks as the sitting Governor, encouraging leaders to remain focused on unity, accountability, and strategic execution across the district.

Her message reinforced the importance of leadership alignment and collective responsibility in delivering Rotary’s mission.

A Day of Alignment and Action

Day Two of DTLS was a reminder that:

  • Strategy must guide service.

  • Projects must outlive presidents.

  • Stories must reflect true transformation

As leaders return to their clubs, they do so equipped not only with ideas — but with renewed clarity of purpose.
