A reflection by Rotary International Director Elect, Emmanuel Katongole
“Africa is taking its rightful place in Rotary. We are growing, and we are growing to serve. This transformation cannot be achieved without Rotaract. Rotaract is first.”
These were the powerful words shared by Rotary International Director Elect, Emmanuel Katongole, as he joined hundreds of energetic young leaders at the Rotaract Africa Summit (RAS) 2025 in Cotonou, Benin.

For two vibrant days, the city of Cotonou came alive with the passion, innovation, and leadership of Rotaractors from across the continent. Emmanuel Katongole described the summit as “a wonderful two days of fellowship with Africa’s most vibrant Rotaractors,” praising their unmatched energy and commitment to creating lasting change.
He emphasized that the strength and future of Rotary lie in the hands of these young trailblazers.
Their creativity, bold thinking, and adaptability demonstrate that Rotary is not only strong today — it is destined to become even stronger tomorrow.
From leadership discussions to hands-on service ideas, the summit showcased the unique power of African Rotaract: unity in diversity, action-driven collaboration, and an unbreakable spirit of service above self.
Emmanuel Katongole expressed deep honour at being part of this transformative gathering and reaffirmed his dedication to supporting Rotaractors as they shape the next chapter of Rotary’s impact across Africa.
As RAS Benin 2025 concluded, one message echoed louder than all:
Rotaract is not the future — Rotaract is now.
And Africa is ready.
