A Night of Colour, Celebration, and Commitment to Service Above Self

On 17 October 2025, Rotary District 9214, under the leadership of District Governor Christine Kyeyune Kawooya, gathered at the serene Kisubi Gardens to celebrate and review the first 100 days of the Rotary year.

 

The event, themed “Ragga Reggae Night”, was a lively mix of music, dance, reflection, and recognition. Rotarians and Rotaractors from across Uganda and Tanzania turned up in vibrant shades of green, yellow, black, and red, showcasing unity and energy in true Rotary spirit.

The occasion was graced by esteemed guests including Rotary International Director Elect Emmanuel Katongole, Past District Governors Francisco Semwanga, Mike Kennedy Sebalu, and RIT Tusu, alongside Governor-Elect Daniel Damulira and PDG Shamila Bart from Tanzania, among other distinguished leaders.


Recognizing Excellence in Service

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of awards to top-performing clubs for their outstanding performance and innovation during the first 100 days:

  • Main Clubs Category: Rotary Club of Nalumunye, Entebbe Base, Bwebajja, Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, Kansanga, and Muyenga Breeze.

  • New Clubs Category: Rotary Club of Mengo, Medical Stars, Nalumunye Heights, Bunamwaya, and Kitende Breeze.

District Rotaract Representative (DRR) Kayonza Aleba also shared her team’s accomplishments, reflecting the Rotaract community’s growing role in innovation, digital engagement, and youth leadership.


100 Days of Growth and Impact

The celebration marked a key milestone in District 9214’s 2025–26 journey, reaffirming its commitment to Service Above Self. Over the past three months, the district recorded tangible achievements in several focus areas:

  • Membership Growth: Rotary District 9214 became one of the fastest-growing districts in Africa, registering 19 new clubs within the period — a record for the region.

  • Impact and Innovation: Clubs rolled out clean-water systems, maternal-health outreach, digital literacy drives, and youth mentorship programmes.

  • Learning and Leadership: Capacity-building workshops in Mbarara and Kampala empowered club presidents and membership chairs with tools to grow and retain vibrant clubs.

  • Sustainability: The district adopted modern facilitation models to enhance collaboration, transparency, and measurable community outcomes.

 


Governor Kawooya’s Call to Action

Addressing the gathering, Governor Christine Kyeyune Kawooya commended the district’s collective spirit:

“Our strength lies in service and togetherness. Let’s use the next 100 days to build on our achievements and multiply our impact.”

She emphasized the importance of partnership, innovation, and sustained membership engagement as the district advances under the 2025–26 theme “Unite for Good” and tagline “Together, One Act at a Time.”

As the music faded and lights dimmed at Kisubi Gardens, one message remained clear: Rotary District 9214 is on the rise — inspired, united, and ready to serve.

With renewed momentum, the district’s clubs return to their communities to continue transforming lives, amplifying impact, and proving that indeed, when we come together, we can create a better world for all.
