Rotary Uganda, UBL and NFA Partner to Restore Namananga Forest Reserve
Earlier today, Rotary Districts 9213 and 9214, Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), and the National Forestry Authority (NFA) officially signed a landmark tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to restore Namananga Forest Reserve in Kayunga District.

Through the leadership of Rtn. Jimmy Mugerwa, our chair for Corporate Partnerships and also Board Chair of UBL, sealed the partnership with a pledge of over UGX 372 million from UBL to support large-scale tree planting as part of their sustainability agenda.
The collaboration is strategic: Rotary brings grassroots mobilization and community engagement, NFA offers technical expertise and stewardship of the reserve, while UBL demonstrates private-sector commitment to climate action. Together, the three partners will deliver shared value addressing environmental degradation, enhancing biodiversity, and empowering communities.

“This is not just about planting trees. It’s about restoring ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and securing a greener future for generations to come,” said District Governor Christine Kyeyune Kawooya, noting that the project aligns with Rotary’s global focus on protecting the environment.
The initiative will see indigenous and resilient species planted in Namananga, creating a living legacy of partnership between corporate, public, and civic actors.
