EACOP & Rotary Uganda Partner to Grow the Next Generation of Environmental Champions

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), in partnership with Rotary Uganda, has launched the Green Schools Initiative at St. Kizito Primary School, Kyotera District.

This flagship programme is designed to support schools along the EACOP route to become model centres of environmental stewardship, sustainability, and community empowerment.

What the Green Schools Initiative Will Deliver

Through this initiative, selected schools will benefit from:

  • Fruit & vegetable gardens – to improve nutrition, support school feeding, and teach pupils practical agriculture skills.

  • Solar systems – providing clean, reliable energy for lighting and learning.

  • Rainwater harvesting systems – ensuring access to water for hygiene, sanitation, and gardening.

  • Sanitation & handwashing facilities – promoting dignity, health, and disease prevention among learners.

  • Better waste management – encouraging recycling, cleanliness, and environmental responsibility.

  • Environmental and health awareness programmes – nurturing informed, responsible and eco-conscious citizens.

Empowering Schools, Transforming Communities

By investing in schools, the Green Schools Initiative is investing in the future.

Pupils, teachers, and surrounding communities will gain:

  • Practical skills to protect and sustain their environment

  • Improved learning conditions and school health standards

  • Greater awareness of the link between the environment, health, and livelihoods

Through this collaboration, EACOP and Rotary Uganda are demonstrating how partnerships can drive sustainable development, inspire young minds, and transform entire communities along the project corridor.
